Welcome to the Uncensored Empath, a place for us to discuss highly sensitive energy, illness, healing, and transformation. My name is Sarah Small, and I’m a life and success coach for empaths who want to create a thriving body, business, and life. Think of this podcast as your no-BS guide to navigating life, health, and entrepreneurship. You’ll get straight to the point, totally holistic tips from me in real-time, as I navigate this healing and growth journey. This is a Soul Fire production.
Welcome to today’s episode. I want to talk about content creation when you are low energy. And, how to navigate creating content as an empath in a crazy freaking world right now. So, the other day I needed to create some content for my business, for some promoting and launching. And I had just come off three days of just holding a lot of space for others. I had done three separate transformational breathwork sessions that are just emotionally intense. Two group calls for programs I’m hosting, and around five to six-hour-long one-on-one client calls. And so, my empath energy was just saying it’s time for a break. My business’ energy was saying fuel me with content over here, fill me up. So do you relate, has this ever happened to you, where you pour yourself into your people, and then it feels like you’re cashed out on your creativity, and your energy?
Honestly, it happens to me all the time, but I don’t see it as a weakness or negative, because it’s natural when you show up so fully for your clients and community, that is an outflow of energy. And as a projector myself in human design, I also get some energy from pouring into other people. But it’s more of a temporary jolt, that I get, like a little high after the breathwork that I just held space for. Or a little high energetic jolt after I got off the client call. But again, it’s temporary. And so, I’m going to talk about that delicate balance as an empath. I’m also going to share in this episode, six low energy investment ways to create content when you’re in a pinch. So my empath friends, first, can you accept that your energy may not always be sustainable? There’s a lot of hoopla in the wellness world around creating sustainable energy and finding balance in all areas of your life.
But can you ditch the hoopla? And even you generators in human design, who might be listening, p.s. if you’re curious about what the heck these things mean, I have a course on human design. You can find on my website. So even you generators, who may be listening, who naturally have sustainable energy, can still have dips in their energy when they are pouring themselves into work that may not align with their soul. So for me, acknowledging that I was not, the Energizer bunny, was immensely helpful. Why you might ask? Because it gave me permission to feel the way that I was authentically feeling, the way I felt in that moment, to not have to go, go, go all the time. I, as a projector, was quite literally, not designed to do that. So I believe that’s a great starting point, acceptance of the inevitable, that sometimes as an empath and as a human being, regardless of your human design type, there are going to be some times when your energy will dip. 2020 has been a crazy, fucking year.
And more than ever I am seeing people come to me and just talk about, and share about their low energy and these dips. And, potentially being afraid to show up, we’re not sure, what to say. Or they’re burning out and they’re going all in. And they see these different things that are coming up in our climate, and they’re treating it like a sprint, instead of a marathon. And the truth is sometimes you will need to slow down, but slowing down does not make you weak. It does not affect how much impact you can, and will have on the world. It’s just part of being human. So can you accept that? You will need to slow down and that it is okay to slow down?
Next, when you get done pouring yourself into others because I know you empaths out there. Because you’re like me, and you’re going to do that and you’re not going to want to stop doing that, because it feels good. It feels good to pour yourself into others. It feels good to align with the impact that you want to have on the world. And maybe the legacy that you intend to leave behind when you are no longer here. But when you get done, pouring yourself into others, it’s time to then pour into yourself. So after those three straight days of holding really big space, for big transformation, and lots of emotions inside of my different courses and programs and client sessions, I had to give back to me. And that meant that I didn’t even try to create anything inside of my business the first half of the fourth day. It was a Wednesday. But that fourth day, after three days, really, really on, I just said, I’m not even going to try to create anything that first half of this Wednesday. Then, about halfway through the day, I just checked in with my body to see how I was feeling.
And when I did check in with my body, it said, pretty clearly, you’re still tired. Either content needs to be easy today, or it’s just not going to happen. And I want you to also just give yourself the permission slip that if there’s a day, it does not happen, it’s also okay. I have plenty of those days. So, I received this message and I went straight back into pouring into me. We’ve got to pour into ourselves as much, if not more, way more than we pour into others. For me, that looks like taking a salt bath. It looks like time out in the sun and soaking up some vitamin D. It looks like watching, “Last Chance You” on Netflix, that I’m obsessed with. And just chatting, talking with my husband about life, and catching up with him, because it was his day off. And eating some yummy food and definitely having some Quito cups, because those are also one of my new obsessions.
And I didn’t try to force it. And now, I also know within my business, after a lot of experience doing this as an empath entrepreneur, that I need to mold my schedule to account for this. I simply cannot have calls and be on for people five days a week. It just doesn’t work for me. I need to have flex days to be able to check-in with myself. So, for example, my Thursdays and Fridays are often this, where I don’t take client calls Thursdays and Fridays. It doesn’t mean I don’t work on Thursdays and Fridays, but it allows me the flexibility to if a Thursday I am cashed out, I don’t have to. Or maybe a Friday, I wake up and I feel super inspired, I end up working the whole day. But there’s not this obligation to have to show up for other people.
And I just know that’s what I need. And that’s how I need to mold my schedule, in order for that to work with my energy. And it took a lot of trial and error to get there, and also tweaking price points, and call lengths, and a lot of other things in my business too. That’s what I mentor my clients through, and setting up a schedule that works well for them.
So next and last, before I talk about these low energy creation methods, is the balance between consuming and creating. And I’ll say it a million times. Create before you consume. Think about yourself as a bucket, and you open up your phone first thing in the morning and you start scrolling. Seems harmless? That’s one cup of liquid added to your bucket. And then, you read the news, because you’re curious, what’s happening in the world. Two more cups, added to your bucket.
Then you check your email. Isn’t that what an adult does? One more cup added to your bucket. And then you turn on a live stream while you’re cooking your breakfast. Two more cups added to your bucket. And while you’re putting on your makeup, you turn on a podcast, one more cup added to your bucket. So, by now, let’s say you have a bucket that holds 10 cups. And if I’m doing my math correctly, you already have seven cups full inside of the capacity of 10 cups, that bucket. And it’s only nine or 10 o’clock in the morning. So, when you go to write content three hours later, you’re, Ugh, nothing is coming through because by then, your 10 cups are probably full. Maybe it’s overflowing and you’re doing the empath thing, where you sponge, sponge, sponge, sponge, and you soak up all this other stuff.
It’s not inherently bad. It’s not bad stuff. It’s just that, when you’re so full of just neutral, good, bad everything in-between stuff. You’re not going to know what to say. You won’t feel the creative inspiration and fire. Another common thing is that you feel, you have to talk about, whatever you just heard other people talking about, on the news, and the live stream, and the podcast. And when you scroll on social media, instead of what authentically wants to be expressed through you. And this is a reminder of how beautiful and divinely created and authentic your being is as a channel. And it doesn’t need to be influenced or told what to do by anyone else. Inspiration is fine, but you, just as yourself, are already so valuable, so important, so insightful, you have something to share. The moments you feel like you don’t, are the moments when your bucket’s already full because you’re lost in the ocean of everyone else’s stuff.
So don’t get stuck in that trap, my beautiful empath friends. Instead, consider creating while your bucket is a clear, empty vessel. This channel that God can speak through, that spirit can speak through, that universe can channel through, and then, go fill up your brain with other wisdom and knowledge. Because like I said, it’s not inherently bad. I love to do all those things like listen to podcasts and read articles, but when I’m sitting down to create my content, I want to make sure it’s me, it’s my voice.
Okay. Let’s move on to these six low energy investment ways to create content especially when you do feel like you’re in a pinch. Maybe you don’t feel like you have the luxury to take the first half of the day off, or the full day off. You’re in the last 24 hours of your launch and you got to get the word out. You feel there’s a need or a deadline to actually put content out there. But your energy is saying, Hmm, not so much. Or, Hey, this better be pretty easy because don’t expect too much from me because we’re already pretty drained, or the bucket’s already pretty full.
The first thing that I often do is simply repurpose. So go through, and it’s even easier if you already have a method of collecting all your old content. So I have my assistant just go through and she categorizes and looks at all the different pieces of content that I’ve shared in the past, and puts them into a word document for me. So I can just search within that word document and I can search keywords for example. And I can go back and I can find an old post. Let’s say the call to action was for my human design course, but I’m about to close the cart for my empath leader’s membership. Well, not every single one of those posts is going to apply to this other offer I have, but some of them might, or a post that had no call to action at the end of it, might work.
It’s okay to repurpose your content. It is 110%. Okay. For some reason, I felt it wasn’t in the beginning. I felt oh, people are gonna think I’m lazy, or they’re not going to like this because they already saw it. But the reality is, I have about 2,000 people in my Facebook group. Do you think every single person sees every single one of my posts? Hell no, absolutely not. Even if they did, even if they liked it three months ago, when I first posted it, the likelihood of them remembering that’s pretty damn slim. And when they read it three months later, they might see something, feel something, just get curious about something or have a different aha moment within that piece of content, then when they first read it. So repurpose your content, change the call to action.
Again, it doesn’t work for every post, but you have an intelligent mind and an intuitive mind, where you can discern this for yourself. It helps to have a place to store all this content so that you’re not just literally scrolling back and trying to find a piece of content.
I’m popping in to tell you what I am most excited about right now. It’s called Empath Leaders and it’s my brand new membership program. I’m going to be honest with you like I always am. I haven’t liked any of the memberships that I have joined in the past. It just felt like one more thing on my to-do list, instead of feeling joyful. This membership is not like that. The people inside show up, they make time for our calls. Not because they have to, because everything’s recorded, but because they want to. There is an energetic frequency and coding inside of this container, that makes you want to be there. And they crave the immense shifts that they feel every single call, in their body, when we get through. This membership is about doing the inner work that impacts your outer world. So you can show up and have the impact that you desire. It is healing for the healers of the world. Because I have seen way too many powerful ass women get in their own way. A new leadership is forming, and it is embodied feminine leadership. And this experience is for those who are ready to answer that call. Inside you’ll experience the subconscious reprogramming that will finally enable you to stop living out the same unconscious patterns in your life. And every month you’ll be invited to one group coaching call, one breathwork session, and one deep healing session. If you’re ready for more pleasure and less burnout, visit theuncensoredempath.com/empath-leaders. And I hope to see you inside.
Let’s go on to number two, Low Energy Way to Create Content. Go onto your Facebook personal profile and look at the memories for that day. So it’s August 3rd when I’m recording this, I could go on today and see what memories are popping up from August 3rd, 2019, 2018, 2017, as long as I posted those days. If you have been pretty silent on social media, this is just plain and simple isn’t going to work so well for you. but this is even more motivation to create continuous content this year. So next year, when you look at your memories, there’s going to be a memory from this day, August 3rd, 2020 on August 3rd, 2021. You could do the same thing on Instagram, if you go into the archives of your Instagram story, it’ll show you on this day, August 3rd, three years ago, the posts that I shared or whatever the Instagram story of that day was, it will also show you memories there. So you can do it on numerous platforms.
Now, once you have identified what the memory is, this is an opportunity to either re-share it, if it’s still super applicable, or let’s say it’s more of a personal story, and you’re trying to put together piece of content for your ideal client and your business. Well, it can still inspire that piece of content. You can actually talk about it. You could talk about how much you’ve changed in two years. Or you can look at that memory and you can share it directly, and just comment on it and any sort of insight. Or it doesn’t have to be long, this is a low energy investment way of creating content. So I’m not going to ask you to sit and write five paragraphs about this memory. And instead, you might just re-share it with a little bit of text. Or again, it might be a good time to reflect on something or to take that piece of content and share it again. Maybe you’ve changed your mind. And you’re like, Okay, I’m going to share this and talk about why I don’t agree with this anymore because my opinions or beliefs have changed.
Third tip, the third idea for you. Simply poll your audience. This works for numerous reasons. It’s beneficial for numerous reasons because they are the people you’re talking to. And if they just tell you what they want to hear, it makes your life so much easier. I love when you all tell me what you want to hear on the podcast. What you want to hear me go live in my Facebook group about. When you asked me questions, because every Monday we do free coaching with Sarah. Everyone asks their questions. It makes it so easy for me to go live, at least five times a week, and just answer your questions, because you told me what you wanted to know.
That is a low energy investment for me. I just click live and I talk about it. You don’t have to go live and talk about it though. You can write a post. You can go on your Instagram story. However you want to share the content, but ask your audience. So you can poll them and give them an ‘A’ or a ‘B’ option or A, B, C, D option. Or you can just keep it open ended and just ask them, what are you wanting to hear about today? What are you curious about? Or maybe you guide them a little bit and you say, I’d love to answer your questions on this, this or this, drop them below. Someone asks you a question, you can either answer it in the comments or you can create a whole post answering that question, or you can go live answering that question. Your audience, your community really does the bulk of the work for you, by just telling you what they want. Then they’re also going to resonate with it. And they’re going to feel connected to you because you just took the time to answer their specific question.
Number four, Pull an Oracle Card. Tarot would work as well, I just prefer Oracle personally. And I do this all the time when I’m stuck. I do it a lot when I’m writing for my book, my upcoming book. And I’ll hit a little bit of a slump or I’ll just need to get a little jolt of inspiration. So I go to a deck. I picked whatever deck I’m feeling called to, because I have many. Pick a deck, shuffle up the cards and just ask, Hey, looking for inspiration on what to talk about today, or looking for inspiration on this post I’m writing. I’ll pull a card, and every time it feels like a miracle, it feels like magic. It’s actually much more simple. Just your intuition, little tapping into the subconscious as well. I’ll flip that card over and I’ll be, Oh my God, duh. Perfect. Okay, scribble out some words. It doesn’t have to be a long post, but again, it sparked, it jolted that inspiration. If my bucket is feeling very overflowing with other people’s stuff, or my energies feeling very depleted, it’s an easy way to tap into something inspiring for me.
Number five, Ask for Guidance. Just surrender yourself up to the universe, to God. God channel through me I am listening. What would you have me say? What would you have me share with my community today? And here’s the trick. Oftentimes it’s just whatever you’re feeling. You want to know how I came up with this podcast episode title and content? I was sitting and going, what should I record on today? What should I talk about? What does my community want to know? I thought the feeling I’m having right now is, I don’t know what to talk about. Hmm, I betcha there are a lot of other empaths out there who get that feeling. I’m going to talk about what it feels like to have this feeling right now. And it gets to be so simple. Oftentimes, it is right in front of your face and you just don’t see it because you try to overcomplicate it. And you think it needs to be fancy, or it needs to have a bunch of creativity infused into it, or it needs to be hard even. And it doesn’t. So just ask for guidance, consider how you are actually authentically feeling right now. Maybe you can speak to that.
Lastly, number six, I put together over 150 prompts that are exactly for this, it’s called Cosmic Content. You may have heard me talk about it before. And it is these 150 prompts, over 150 prompts to create magnetic content that captivates your ideal client. So I’m actually going to pull up the PDF and just scroll and randomly pick, Oh, let’s do two or three of these questions inside of here. And this is exactly how I encourage you to use it. It’s a 30-page PDF document. And you can just scroll through, stop on a page, point, your finger at this screen. Or you can, you can go through in order, if you want that way too. Regardless, there’s all these prompts to get your wheels turning.
So here’s an example. What is an example or story of a time when you invested in yourself? Maybe when you hired a coach, and how did investing in yourself help you grow? Next. Here are all the excuses slash reasons this thing shouldn’t have worked out for me, but here’s what happened instead. Hmm. Next, create a checklist for your clients based on a result that they desire. And it doesn’t have to be so complicated. It can be really super easy.
There are 150 more of those inside of Cosmic Content. It’s a $97 offer. You also get seven pages that are how to get clear on your sacred creator message. Because some people, their block, their issue with creating content is they’re not clear on what they’re meant to be talking about. And so, it’s important to back up and take a few steps, reverse, reverse, and get clear on your message and your impact, your mission, before you just start throwing content out there. Like finger paint, smudge it all around. We’re trying to be clear. And so, that way your clients are also clear, your community is also clear on the message that you’re putting out. You also get a guided template to get clear on what you actually do, and some prompts and diagrams for developing your personal philosophy within your niche. Which is also an important part of just knowing yourself, and what makes you different.
You’ll hear inside of this same cosmic content offer how I repurpose one piece of content into 10 different pieces of content. That is magic. That’s part of my projector strategy and human design because I’m not gonna create 10 pieces of content every day. But I can put out 10 pieces of content from one piece of content that I create. It’s magical. It is a magical thing. It saves you so much time. You’ll also hear on how I organize my content and how you can organize your content, especially into the pillars that are most important to your ideal client. You’ll get a bonus one-hour masterclass on Embodied Empath Leadership. And, super special just for podcast listeners, you can get all of that cosmic content that I just described for 100% free when you enroll an Empath Leaders Membership as mentioned in this episode.
So all you do is go to my website, enroll in Empath Leaders, then shoot me an email and say, Hey Sarah, I’m so freaking excited for content to be easy because that’s how I hope you feel. And just let me know that you listened to this podcast and that you would like to get cosmic content for free because you’re inside the membership. And then, you also get to be inside the membership, which is $111 a month. So $97 for cosmic content if you want it on its own, $111 for the membership, both really low investment offers. And I hope that these six ways to check your energy before you start creating, allow you to manage your energy in a more sustainable way. All right, my friends, I hope this has been so helpful. I hope to also see you inside one or both of those offers. And I will see you in the next episode.
I want to tell you about a brand new podcast from my friend, Laura. It is called Activate. And Activate is your one-stop-shop for all things, mind, body, and soul elevation.
