It is here for you as a tool in your toolbox to utilize. It is a sacred container that I am holding for you to be informed and make educated decisions for your healing. It’s a place for you to heal on the deepest level.

It was so much fun with all of you to celebrate the release of this healing uncensored podcast, so much fun hanging out and celebrating together. Extra congratulations to all of our giveaway winners from last night party, Becky, Meaghan, Angelica, and Joanne, congrats on being a winner. Today’s episode is part 2 of Empaths and Autoimmune disease. In part 1, episode 3, I discussed how being an empath can influence your level of fatigue, sleep, anxiety, etc. So today, I want to arm you with some tools to actually protect your energy as an empath. I have 6 tools that are my personal favorite tools for protecting my own energy as an empath. So let’s dive in.

Tool number one: Visualization

There are many ways to do this. You can visualize zipping up your energy, like a literal jacket zipper, you are zipping up in front of your body. You can visualize dropping a grounding cord into the core of the earth, it can even take the shape of an anchor that you are rooting down, dropping down from your sacrum. You can build that bubble of protection around you, and imagine, visualize this bubble of golden light that is like a semipermeable shell. So it’s often referred to as an egg as well, or maybe even just a sacred container of light, that allows the things that no longer serve you, to release and be shed from your energy and aura, anything negative bounces off that shell, that layer of protection, so that it cannot affect you.

I also love this visualization which is one I’ve been using more often and learned later on as an empath, which is that instead of letting the negative energies around you bounce off, you let them pass through you. So to me, it feels like a little bit less of avoiding what we might really be feeling and more of an acknowledgment of it, but then we’re not holding on to it. So how this would look is, you pick up energy, you sense energy from someone around you, you feel it in your body, and then you imagine, visualize it passing through you. So you experience it, you feel it to be real, you acknowledge it, but then you let it go so that you are not carrying the energy of others around with you all the time, because that’s what weighs us down. I love this analogy. I use this in my yoga classes sometimes.

Right now, just take a breath and actually consider all of the past traumas, experiences, stressors, whatever in your life that you are still holding on to, and then imagine each of those moments structures, etc. as a stone in your pocket, and then consider how heavy your freakin pockets are because of all of this energy that you are still carrying around. So the visualizations to me are powerful, and that it allows you to release the energy and either let it bounce off you, or pass through you. So those are a few visualizations you can try on your own at home and see how that might make you feel better. I also love to do this before I go into a place I know might be a little bit stimulating or overwhelming or triggering for me. I leave the house and zip up my energy and I go out into the world, so I feel a little bit safer.

Tool number two: Meditation

Regular meditation, so not meditation when we are having a panic attack because of all the overwhelming and the energy around us, but instead, regular meditation. This helps settle your mind before bed, it clears negative thoughts, if you want to start your day off with meditation, clears anything out of your aura that you may be carrying, like attachments or energetic chords to other people. These are the things that you do not need to carry, or maybe causing you stress, or are not yours to carry the weight of.

Medication helps you clear your mind and your energy as you sit in stillness, you can sit in silence, you can do guided meditations. I’ve been loving the calm app. I’ll link to that in the show notes, if you guys want to try that out. Meditation on regular basis keeps you coming back home, it keeps you centered, grounded, and more easily able to decipher how do you really feel, versus when we go-go-go in our everyday life, sometimes that becomes confusing, and it’s hard to make the distinction between what is ours and what is not ours. So meditation enables you to slow down and make that distinction.

Tool number three: Chanting

There are many places online, you can find chanting either in a single long-form. I think of the books I used to listen to when I was a little kid, you put the tape into the cassette player, and when you open the book, and it would have the lyrics of a song, and you could sing along to it. Does anyone remember those? Chanting is sort of like that, you just have to find the right resources. So you can even find chanting on YouTube or Spotify, there are tons of free resources for you to find different types of chanting.

The reason that I’m including this as a tool for empath protection is that chanting helps ground you, and it helps protect you. You can choose a specific chant, that is for protection, maybe it is one for peace or even just the sound ‘Om’ is the universal sound. There are many different paths you can take with your chanting practice. I also love that when you are, whether you’re just oming or chanting, you feel this vibration in your throat, and then, in turn, that is in your throat chakra. When we start to tune into the energy of our throat chakra, we find this stronger bigger confidence in our voice and expressing ourselves.

When we are less afraid to express ourselves, the more easily we can create strong boundaries without being freaking scared of being called a bitch because too many of us are afraid that we’re going to be called a mean girl or bitchy or whatever, and we’re not going to be well-liked, and then we say yes, and we’re a people pleaser. All those boundaries go, we say yes to everything and everyone and we get completely burnt out. So I also love chanting for that confidence in your voice and being able to say no, so that you don’t have to put yourself in situations that make you feel completely drained as an empath.

Tool number four: Honor your Humaneness

We are human, we are perfectly imperfect humans. Oftentimes, it helps me when I’m experiencing anxiety, or feeling like I have too much of these energies inside of me. It helps me to just tune back into my physical body, and what it feels like to be a human, even if some days, a lot of days, it’s hard to be a freakin human. So some ways that you can remind yourself of your humaneness and how alive you truly are at the core is to, for example, hold an ice cube – actually learned this one from a rehab counselor – you just put an ice cube in the palm of your hand, and your mind is going to have a hard time thinking about any other thing, especially that anxiety, when your hand is freezing, and that ice cube is starting to melt and you’re starting to feel some of the moisture into your hand, you’re feeling the extreme cold of the ice cube. So that’s one way.

You can also hold your hands out in front of you and just look at every finger. Don’t try to rush it, but really take a moment to look at each finger, look at the lines of your actual fingerprints, and see how they swirl and connect and then hinge off in other directions, and look at each of your 10 fingers with intention and mindfulness. Here’s another one that I learned recently as well, that also helps you start to go into more of your parasympathetic nervous system or that rest and digest mode, where also we can calm our nervous system down. If you take your pointer finger and you rub the pad of your pointer finger onto your thumbprint, so you just rub little circles, and then after that, you’ll go thumb to the middle finger, and then thumb to ring finger, and then thumb to the pinky finger, and then you go on to the other side.

So if you started on your right hand, you go over to your left hand. Left pointer to the thumb, left middle finger to your thumb, left ring to your thumb, and then left pinky finger to your thumb. I do this, don’t tell anybody, and don’t start looking at my hands if you ever see me, it’s my secret. Underneath the table, I will do the circular motion with thumb and my finger pads if I experience anxiety or feel like I have a psychic attack in crowded places. It really truly helps me start to calm my nervous system down. Here’s another way to honor your humaneness, this is so simple you guys, these are all really simple. Take your right hand to the left side of your chest where your heart is carried in your body, and then just feel your heartbeat against your hand; pump-pump-pump, and as you feel your heartbeat against your hand, you’re tuning in into the physical body, how freaking alive you are today.

Another way to do this is go outside, snowy day here in Colorado, but once the snow melts away, you can go put your feet in the dirt. Literally, take off the socks, put your feet in the dirt. If you live on one of the coasts or anywhere that has a beach, amazing! Go put your feet in the sand, and feel mother earth energy (Gaia), and feel how that re-energizes you. There are studies on this even where you are starting to absorb the energy of the earth, and the electric charge of the earth, a magnetic charge of the earth, and starting to re-energize yourself, ground yourself. That’s a beautiful exercise to do with your visualizations. So what it is said that this hungry energy that affects empath is trying to keep us apart, it’s trying to keep us at our computer screens, instead of making a real authentic connection with each other in the world.

Another way to honor our humaneness is just to connect with other humans. Believe me you guys, there are days when the last thing I want to do is have a connection with a human because my anxiety feels so freakin overwhelming. But I always find that when I either go teach a yoga class and provide some really juicy lovey hands-on assess, or I have a call of my best friend, even if it’s not in person, I’m at least hearing this human voice, those are the moments that I reconnect to my human self, and I remind myself that I’m alive, that I’m safe, that I am supported and loved by the people around me, and that can also really help.

So connect with other humans, touch them in safe, appropriate ways, give a person a hug today, look people in the freaking eyes. There are so many of us walking around this freaking planet and just looking down at our phones, looking down at the ground, looking up into the sky, and la-la-land. Let’s just reconnect and make a commitment to reconnect not only to each other, but to our earthly bodies today. That is how to honor your humaneness.

Tool number five: Grounding or Protecting Crystals.

I am a little bit of a crystal addict. I am also a certified vibrational crystal healer, and I offer healing sessions that incorporate the chakra crystals and stones into that energy healing session. I love to utilize these different crystals and stones to protect and grab my energy on a daily basis. You can do this in many ways, whether it is holding a crystal during your meditation, wearing a crystal around your neck on a necklace, or earrings, you can place them on top of your body during a healing session, or your own personal DIY healing session. I love if you could see me right now, I have crystals all around my desk, especially ones that are energy protecting, ones that help you strengthen your intuition, and other ones that help protect you from EMF radiation.

Here are some examples of stoned or crystals that you may want to utilize in any of those ways to help you protect and ground your energy. First are grounding stones. My two favorite grounding stones are Red Jasper, typically a deep red color, it aligns with your root chakra. This is a grounding stone, and so is Black Tourmaline. This crystal, in its raw form, it’s fairly delicate, it can kind of chip away, but you could also find a tumbled form that’s going to be a little bit more hard and tumbled to have a smooth exterior. Those are my two favorite root chakra and grounding stones that can help you drop that anchor, drop your grounding cord. Again, beautiful to use in the visualizations from tool number one.

Next, Purple Jade. Purple Jade purifies and cleanses your aura, gets rid of negative energy connects with your Earth’s star and crown chakra. Earth star is actually going to be below your physical body, and crown into the top of your head. This helps keep you aligned, so that’s purple Jade. Magnetite, really cool, if you go into a crystal shop, you can play around some magnetite, and see that it is naturally magnetic, and it is a stone of psychic protection, so obviously, a good stone crystal here to use for protecting and pass the energy. It helps to ground your root chakra to the Earth Star Chakra, which is said again to be underground or below your body, and part of Mother Earth, it also balances your aura. So just to recap; Red Jasper, Black Tourmaline, Purple Jade, and Magnetite, all beautiful crystals. There are many more that I could go into, but those are four to start with today that are easy to find online.

Tool number six: To create intentional thoughts

Aka, when you start to feel overwhelmed, when you start to feel like you are taking on other people’s energy, you decide very intentionally in your conscious mind to say – I think I gave you guys this mantra in part one – ‘’These or this is not mine to carry. I give it back to you, or them, whatever it is, so these emotions are not mine to carry, I give them back to you.’’ You say this in assertive flow, or this is also known as positive fury. It’s like a very determined, adamant, fierce, strong energy, assertive flow or positive fury. It’s like this ‘I can do it’ attitude and energy. So you really intentionally with your thoughts, and you don’t have yell at anybody, but inside your mind, you say, ‘’This is not mine to carry, I release it, or I give it back to you.’’

This is a really simple one to do when you feel overwhelmed in a public place, and you can just say in your mind, ‘’This is not mine to carry, I release it into the ethers, into the universe, or I give it back to whoever’s it is to carry.’’ You can also just say a little prayer in your mind. This might be something like, ‘’I know that this energy I’m experiencing is simply lost, it’s not evil or bad, I feel your pain, but I need you to leave me alone. You are not welcome here. Please leave me alone. I’m taking back my power.’’ You would say that an even more positive fury than what I just said. So it should sound a little bit more like, ‘’You are not welcome here! Leave me alone! I am taking back my power!’’ You say it with this fierceness, that assertive flow, so that the energy of the universe knows that you mean a business.

This can also be ritualized, these intentional positive fury or assertive slow thoughts, where in order to ritualize them, you could even go outside, and you could literally just take whatever arm you want, whatever fist you want, and you just shake it at the sky, at the clouds, at the external universe, and you say according to this super simple script, ‘’I never… blank,’’ and then you throw your fists to the sky. So for example, ‘’I never will give up my power, I never will give up my power,’’ and then you can throw your fist into the earth, so downward towards the grass or leaves or whatever you’re standing on, ‘’I always… blank, I always… blank. So I always will stay true to myself, I always will lead with my heart,’’ whatever you want to fill the blank in with that day. Go outside, find a place that feels safe and private and sacred to you, and throw your fist to the sky, and throw your fist at the earth, and let those assertive thoughts start to slow out.

Last one here, I think I said there was 6, there’s actually 7 tools for your toolbox to protect your energy today.

Number seven: Creating that daily prayer for safety

Prayer just reminds us that we are a student in this life and on this planet. If you don’t like the word ‘prayer’ or that does not align with you, that is totally fine. I actually personally don’t align with the word ‘prayer’ too much. But if it does, use it. If it doesn’t, you can change that word prayer to invocation, mantra, affirmation, or simply a message. But you are creating this daily prayer, invocation, mantra, affirmation, or message for safety. That could be as simple as repeating something like I am safe, I’m safe, I have gone into public restrooms, tapped on my thymus gland, closed my eyes, sat on a toilet, and said, ‘’I am safe, I am safe, I am safe.’’

You do what you have to do, my love! You just do it. Another one that you could use is, ‘’I am love, I am love, I am love.’’ I’ve given this one to several clients before they like this mantra, which is that this planet, the universe, this earth is inherently a safe place, the earth is a safe place, the earth is inherently a safe place. We come back into our parasympathetic nervous, a little bit out of that fight and flight, that can be triggered through all of these things that are happening around us.

Those are seven tools for you guys to start to protect your energy become more authentically you, because you can now decipher what is and what is not yours to carry. So that is all for part 2, for Empaths and Autoimmune disease. I hope you guys found this supportive and helpful for protecting your energy. I would love for you guys to tag me on Instagram or Facebook with whichever one of these tools you find to be most helpful, and are going to start implementing into your life right away. Thank you guys so much. That’s all for this time, and I’ll see you guys next time.
