Rudrani Devi knows a thing or two about overcoming obstacles. In 2008, the Nashville-based author and intuitive healer was in Mumbai, India on a meditation retreat when the unthinkable happened: a devastating act of terror that involved 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across the city. Known as the 2008 Mumbai Massacre, or “26/11,” Devi was shot at point-blank range and witnessed horrors unfold around her. Over 150 people in the city died, with another 300 plus wounded. Among other injuries, the shooting shattered her femur, thus requiring years of operations and physical therapy. Unsure if she would walk again, Devi began a journey of healing – both physically and emotionally. Her path led her to eventually run the Boston Marathon, with the help of her trainer and a sponsorship from Adidas, and to embark on a mission to bring love and light into a dark world. Despite it all, Devi describes herself as a “glass-half-full type gal.”
Now, Devi has announced the release of her third book, Choosing Happiness. The text explores the many reasons why individuals might not choose happiness and offers ten key tools to change that notion, pulling from her own personal experience at overcoming hardships and finding joy. Of her inspiration, Devi shares, “I had survived the unsurvivable and had this intense desire to live my life to the fullest.”
